FORMATION OF INTERCULTURAL TEXT COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF TEACH-ING FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN HIGHER SCHOOL
Abstracts

Introduction. This article is devoted to the problem of intercultural textual competence’s formation in the process of teaching foreign languages. The purpose of the article is to define the concept of intercultural textual competence and to consider this competence from the perspective of teaching foreign languages’ process. The authors consider the most problematic aspects of the intercultural textual competence’s formation and propose didactic solutions for the formation of textual competence in the teaching foreign languages’ process in higher education.

Materials and methods. The following research methods are presented in the article: review of Russian and foreign scientists’ works as well as regulatory and legislative acts of the Russian Federation in the field of education; determining the structure of intercultural textual competence, comparative analysis of various types of texts in an intercultural context, identifying the level of foreign languages faculty’s students’ intercultural textual competence’s formation through diagnostic techniques.

Results. The results of pedagogical experiment conducted at the faculty of foreign languages confirmed that in the process of purposeful work on the formation of students’ intercultural textual competence, the level of its formation changes for the better, namely: not only language skills are improved, but also the ability to structure reality and convey content via language means, observing the laws of textbuilding in a particular language culture. In addition, the formed intercultural textual competence allows us to differentiate the accepted rules for the construction of texts in a specific cultural environment and create on their basis their own texts that follow all the criteria.

Discussion. It should be noted that the most effective formation of intercultural textual competence is achieved through comparative analysis of existing types of texts in different language cultures by presenting a number of textual samples of these cultures.

Conclusion. The results of the pedagogical experiment showed that in the process of implementing the “Read and Write in German” course, students developed a fairly high level of intercultural textual competence, allowing them to produce texts in a foreign language that follow the criteria of a foreign language culture.
