METHODOLOGICAL SYSTEM OF FORMING POLYCULTURAL COMPETENCY OF FUTURE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS
Abstracts

Introduction. The article addresses future foreign language teachers’ polycultural training that consists in specific interaction of teachers, students and other participants of educational process based on positive perception of cultural  diversity/ mutual  readiness for polycultural activity that is viewed as a specific type of interaction with students based on the positive perception of cultural diversity, mutual respect, humanism, equality, which helps provide efficient communication in modern polycultural environment.

The aim of the paper is to substantiate the theoretical basis of polycultural competency formation as a central component of future teachers’ polycultural training.

Materials and methods. The leading research methods include analysis of regulatory documents, scientific literature on the problem of polycultural training and policultural competency formation, generalization of innovate practices in education and the authors’ personal teaching experience, empirical (observation, testing) and interpretative (qualitative and quantitative analyses) methods. The research material is constituted by the data obtained as the result of the realization of the course of “Fundamentals of intercultural communication” entering the undergraduate program 44.03.05 Pedagogical education (with two profiles of training).

Results. Proceeding fromthe analysis of the structure and content of polycultural competency the methodological system including the aim, stages, tasks, forms of control and levels of its formation was described.

Discussion. Consists in substantiating the role of polycultural competency in teachers’ polycultural training in the framework of the academic course “Fundamentals of intercultural communication” and in the analysis of the efficiency of the developed methodological system.

Conclusion. It is concluded that the developed methodological system of polycultural competency formation contributes to the polycultural training of future teachers due to: a) the integration of cultural content and verbal component; b) articulation of cultural attitudes and putting forward cultural initiatives and their realization during students’ training practice; c) choosing relevant communicative strategies in the polycultural environment.
