IMPLEMENTING THE REGIONAL COMPONENT IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING ENGLISH IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
Abstracts

Introduction. The article justifies the relevance of the problem of implementing the regional component in the process of teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions. It considers some methodological aspects: elaborates the definition and describes the leading pedagogical principles underlying it. Implementing the regional component results in the development of the local competence comprising a complex of culturally-labelled knowledge and linguistic and communication skills.

Materials and methods.The main research methods are the analysis of regulatory documents in the education sphere, scientific literature on the problem of implementing the regional component in the process of teaching English in higher education institutions, conceptual and terminological analysis to streamline the conceptual field of the problem, interviewing informants, and generalizing pedagogical experience.

Results. The study elaborates the definition of implementing the regional component in the process of teaching English in higher education institutions and describes its leading principles and the outcome – the local competence.

Discussion. The authors state the need for a theoretical justification and development of technological support of implementing the re-

 

gional component in the process of teaching English in higher education institutions.

Conclusion. The authors concluded that in addition to the development of local competence, implementing the regional component in the process of teaching English in higher education institutions is associated with the development of personal qualities of students. It will make it possible to specify and successfully solve educational problems, will facilitate individualisation of education and its connection with life.
