APPLICATION OF GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN PREPARATION OF MASTER’S STU-DENTS TO SOLVE TASKS OF TERRITORIAL PLAN-NING
Abstracts

Introduction. The use of geographical information systems in land management and cadastres is one of the modern ways to solve the problems of managing the development of territories, preparing documents of territorial planning.  Today, there is a need to train masters in the direction “Land Management and Cadastres” to use these systems in solving problems of territorial planning, taking into account economic, social, environmental and other conditions.

Materials and methods. The author analyzes regulatory documents and scientific literature to characterize territorial planning as a type of activity, characterizes the functionality of the MapInfo geographical information system for solving territorial planning tasks.  The author uses an integrated approach for a holistic perception of the territory when planning its use.  The author uses the principles of a systematic approach when designing the content of the discipline “Territorial planning and forecasting”.

Results. The features of territorial planning as a type of activity, which today is given special attention for the rational use of territories, are characterized.  The choice of geographical information systems as a means of training masters of land management and cadastres in solving the problems of territorial planning is justified.  The author demonstrates the functionality of a geographic information system by the example of a description of the technology for solving territorial planning problems in the MapInfo GIS.

Discussion. The hypothesis about the effectiveness of using MapInfo GIS in training masters of land management and cadastres in solving territorial planning problems is confirmed by a survey of students from the control and experimental groups. The author compared the students' answers before studying the discipline “Territorial planning and forecasting” and after studying the discipline in each group.  The experimental group tested the methodology of teaching territorial planning with the practical part — working in GIS MapInfo to create a comprehensive project for the development of the territory. The author showed an increase in the average score for assessing the completion of the control task.

Conclusion. The results of the work, which are presented in the publication, can be used by specialists who participate in the development of educational and methodological support for educational programs of the magistracy with the training of specialists in the field of land management and cadastres.

The author demonstrates the training of students in solving the problems of territorial planning using the GIS MapInfo using the example of a comprehensive analysis of the territory of the district;

The author concludes that the use of geographical information systems in the training of masters in solving territorial planning problems is based on an increase in the average score based on the results of evaluating the completion of the control task.
