Introduction. During the period of radical socio-political transformations and challenges to the sovereignty of Russia, the importance of preserving traditional family values and strengthening the institution of motherhood and fatherhood increases. The purpose of the study is to study the connection between ideas about future parenthood and indicators of responsibility among young people of youthful age.
Materials and methods. Theoretical and methodological analysis of literature, a psychodiagnostic method (a modified version of the semantic differential technique of I. L. Solomin, the projective technique “Incomplete Sentences”, the questionnaire “Role Expectations and Claims in Marriage” by A. N. Volkova, multidimensional-functional diagnostics of responsibility by V.) were used. P. Pryadeina, “Test of life-meaning orientations” by D. A. Leontyev), statistical analysis of data. Correlation analysis made it possible to establish a connection between ideas about future parenthood and indicators of responsibility among young people of youthful age.
Results. The study involved 283 students of the Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev aged from 17 to 25 years. Of these, 48,76 % were boys and 51,24 % were girls. The study showed that the interaction of such factors as gender, responsibility and its constituent parameters to a greater extent determine the characteristics of the cognitive, emotional and behavioral components of ideas about the future parental role among men'ses representative compared to feminine representative of youthful.
Discussion. The results obtained make it possible to develop active methods, psychological and pedagogical technologies for the formation of responsible parenthood through the development of students’ internal locus of control, dynamic ergicity, sthenic emotionality, regulatory internality, sociocentric motivation, cognitive meaningfulness, subject and subjective performance, taking into account the gender of the respondents.
Conclusion. Successful entry into a multipolar world requires sovereign modernization in the field of education, focused on the development of national human capital. The concept of fundamentalization of developmental education involves instilling in the younger generation such traditional values as family, parenthood, motherhood, paternity and childhood. The results obtained are of fundamental importance for understanding the role of responsibility and its constituent parameters in the formation of ideas about future parenthood among students, in order to prevent the occurrence of deviant parenthood in the future.

Both general and specific features of the connection between ideas about future parenthood and parameters of responsibility among young people of youthful age were identified;
At men'ses representative in the youthful age the development of an internal locus of control of cognitive comprehension, subject results and responsibility in general contributes to the formation of all structural components of ideas about future fatherhood;
At feminine representative in the youthful age the formation of cognitive and behavioral components of ideas about future motherhood is due to the development of the value of responsibility as an important personal quality, dynamic ergicity, sthenic emotionality, regulatory internality; a positive attitude towards future children (the emotional component) is formed as a result of accepting leadership and responsibility in the family.
