Sociocultural approach as a general scientific basis for developing digital culture in future teachers
Abstracts

Introduction. The article is based on the analysis of the leading principles of socio-cultural approach as general scientific basis of pedagogical research and considers possibilities to apply this approach to designing the value-oriented concept of developing digital culture in future teachers.

Materials and methods. Socio-cultural approach is a fairly new phenomenon for humanities and pedagogy. The methodology is based on system approach and considers the phenomena under study in the context of the unity of culture and social processes enabling to reveal factors in which various social processes affect education and factors in education affecting public processes. The leading ideas of the approach and its specifics are defined by integration of three measurements of human life: individual in his relation to the society, type of culture and type of socialness. The authors have also analyzed basic categories of socio-cultural approach 1) personality as a carrier of interaction; 2) society as integrity of interacting individuals; 3) culture as integrity of knowledge, values and norms, with all interactions within it.

Results. Based on the analysis of the theory of socio-cultural approach and fundamental principles, the study provides important provisions of socio-cultural approach applicable to the problem of forming digital culture in future teachers, namely: human interaction is a fundamental socio-cultural phenomenon, a basis for socio-cultural system; interpenetration of culture and socialness; according to this principle culture and socialness exist in any human community in interrelation and interdependence; anthropo-social compliance - compatibility of personal, behavioral features of an individual and characteristics of a public paradigm; socio-cultural balance – the balance between cultural and social components as a condition for sustainability of the system of interaction between people and society; socio-cultural change as fundamental characteristic of educational process. As a strategy for activities aimed at the formation of digital culture in future teachers, socio-cultural approach allows us using the “causality funnel” method.

Discussion. With the use of socio-cultural approach we have formed a value-based concept for developing digital culture in future teachers which is defined as a complex, purposeful system of methodological and technological knowledge on value reference points of the process of developing digital culture in future teachers. We proved that regularities of developing this type of culture have to be defined on the basis of the principles of socio-cultural approach.

Conclusion. The study has provided data indicating that socio-cultural approach allows considering the process of digital culture formation as an impact on the harmonic integrity of social and cultural aspects of pedagogical activity. This integrity is reached by the synthesis of social and cultural analysis, the subject and object aspects of the process of digital culture formation in future teachers.
