Introduction. Modern pedagogical innovation develops in the context of the ideas of personality-oriented learning, which determines the specificity of its object and subject. The object of pedagogical innovation is the process of the emergence, development and assimilation of innovations in education, the subject is the system of relations that arise in innovative educational activities. Among innovative technologies, productive innovative technologies are becoming increasingly popular, which ensure the implementation of any productive activity in the learning process. Because of this, productive technologies have great educational potential.
Materials and methods. The main research methods are generalization and theoretical understanding of the capabilities of design technology as a special system of teaching Russian as a foreign language, a descriptive analysis of the stages of the design technology.
Results. The definition of the design technology is given, the conditions that must be taken into account when using the technology are formulated, the stages of a possible project are presented, the main tasks that must be solved in the process of preparing for work on the technology under consideration are indicated.
Discussion. It is emphasized that the use of design technology does not cancel the traditional forms of work with students. The methods of project technology actualize educational and cognitive activities, develop linguistic consciousness, form cultural competence, develop communicative competence, realize the student's personal potential, develop his creativity, and ensure the development of the personality as a whole.
Conclusion. It is concluded that the use of design technology in combination with traditional forms of education will contribute to the effectiveness of the process of assimilation of knowledge by students.
