CREATIVE COMPONENT IN HIGHER PROFESSIONAL LIBRARY EDUCATION
Abstracts

Introduction. The article considers value of creative technologies application in the higher library education. Requirements to professional qualities of a specialist from library and information area change due to transformation of libraries’ role in the society. Constant dynamics of these requirements and challenges of the professional media actualize development of competences directed at transformational creative activity.

Materials and Methods. Theoretical foundation of the research comprises articles in academic journals and digests of scientific conferences that reflect the role of creative component in forming specialist’s actual competences in various areas, and also materials that offer detailed analysis of creative educational technologies. The analysis of higher library education content is held on the materials of the Federal State Standard of Bachelor’s Program majoring in 51.03.06 “Library and Information Activity” and also Model basic educational program.

Results. Within the research we have analyzed the curriculum of Bachelor’s Program majoring in 51.03.06 “Library and Information Activity” of Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture. Some competences including creative component were highlighted, and also the content of professional cycle disciplines was analyzed in the contest of competency-based approach due to the Federal State Educational Standard of Bachelor’s Program majoring in 51.03.06 “Library and Information Activity”.

Discussion. The article submits the analysis of creative educational technologies application in some definite disciplines. We consider types of creative tasks and specifics of their conduction with reference to peculiarities of library and information area and actual workouts of Higher School Pedagogics.

Conclusion. Within analysis of higher library education content we have determined potential for application of creative educational technologies. We have determined directions of field work that require implementation of the creative approach. We have come to the conclusion that enforcement of creative component in professional library education is required, as far as an expansion of the range of disciplines where creative technologies are applied.

Highlights

Modern conditions of development and transformation role, functions, mission of libraries require relevant changes in the higher professional library education.

Application of creative technologies in higher professional education adds to forming personality ready to give solutions in the professional area. This personality has active life and creative attitudes targeted at self-education.

Broadening of educational technologies’ range within the creative component at teaching professional disciplines will add to better correspondence of a graduate to actual challenges of field practice.
