Introduction. The article analyzes the cognitive features of a person in a digital environment. Groups of respondents with different levels of digital activity were identified. The results of a study of focus groups on dominant attitudes regarding the digital environment are presented. The author proposes an analysis of the results of an empirical study of the cognitive characteristics of respondents with low, medium and high levels of digital activity.
Materials and Methods. The main research methods are the analysis of the literature on the research issues; questionnaire, author's research questionnaire by I. S. Luchinkina “Digital Immersion”; methodology for studying the locus of control, designed to determine the localization of control over significant events (J. Rotter); Stroop test for the diagnosis of flexibility-rigidity.
Results. The study revealed statistically significant differences in the indicators of rigidity and flexibility of the individual with different levels of digital activity. It was revealed that groups with medium and high levels of digital activity are characterized by high levels of flexibility, which manifests itself in the ability to quickly interpret new information, a high level of learning. In the course of the study, it was noted that all the respondents of the sample have equally indicators of internality and externality, which are responsible for the emotional reaction during cognitive activity.
Discussion. The results of the study showed that respondents with medium and high levels of digital activity are characterized by the flexibility of cognitive control, while respondents with a low level of digital activity have a pronounced indicator of rigidity. Respondents with a low level of digital activity need additional research in order to establish the reasons for the relationship between their level of activity and indicators of rigidity. The results obtained can form the basis of a program of psychological support for a person to prevent deviations in digital behavior.
Conclusion. The study made it possible to identify and statistically confirm significant differences in cognitive characteristics among groups with different levels of digital activity, including in terms of rigidity and flexibility of cognitive control. It has been studied that groups with low, medium and high levels of digital activity are equally characterized by externality and internality of cognitive activity. The results obtained can be the basis for further study of cognitive predictors of digital activity of a person.
