MEANINGS OF PERSONALITY IN THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT
Abstracts

Introduction. The article examines the problem of personal meaning in the digital environment and their relationship with life-meaning orientations in the real environment. An analysis of the results of a study of the dominant digital meanings of respondents with a high level of activity in the digital environment is proposed. The research was carried out in three stages. At the first stage, respondents with a high level of digital activity were identified according to a number of diagnostic criteria. At the second stage, using the focus group method, the main digital meanings of the respondents were determined. At the third stage, a correlation analysis was carried out.

Materials and Methods. The main research methods are analysis of literature on the research topic; analysis of user self-reports to identify respondents with a high level of digital activity; focus group method to identify the main digital meanings of users; methodology for studying life-meaning orientations authored by D.A. Leontyev.

Results. Reliable results have been obtained from a study of the digital meanings of users with a high level of digital activity. It was revealed that respondents with a high level of digital activity are more likely to have such digital meanings as mastery of space, creativity, compensation for problems in com-

munication, changing role position, communication, development, recreation, search for life guidelines and self-presentation. These meanings influence the direction of a person’s behavior in the digital environment.

Discussion. The study determined the relationship between the digital meanings of a person and his life-meaning orientations in the real environment. It has been determined that with a decrease in the orientation of the individual towards the goal and result in the real environment, digital meaning increases according to the type of possession of space in the digital environment. The obtained data on the relationship of indicators made it possible to determine the need for further research and the formation of a system of psychological support for respondents with non-adaptive individual psychological characteristics.

Conclusion. The study identified a group of respondents with a high level of digital activity and clarified its main characteristics. The main digital meanings of respondents in the selected group when interacting with the digital environment have been established. The relationship between the digital meanings of a person and his life-meaning orientations in a real environment has been studied. The main ways of developing a person’s digital meanings are identified, including compensation for social actions in the digital environment and the formation of meanings under the influence of digital resources.
