SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL ATTITUDES OF A PERSON INVOLVED IN A CYBERBULLYING SITUATION IN A DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT
Abstracts

Introduction. The article analyzes the socio-psychological attitudes of a person involved in a cyberbullying situation. An empirical study was conducted in two stages: at the first stage of the study, the main roles and positions occupied by adolescents in cyberbullying were highlighted; at the second, key psychological and social aspects affecting personality behavior and reactions in cyberbullying conditions are considered. The purpose of the article is to analyze the socio–psychological and personal attitudes that influence the role position in cyberbullying.

Materials and Methods. To study the socio-psychological attitudes of a person involved in the situation of cyberbullying in the digital environment, the following methods were used: the questionnaire "Personality in virtual space" by A.I. Luchinkin, the questionnaire "Propensity to bullying in the Internet space" by I.S. Luchinkin, "Diagnostics of socio-psychological attitudes of personality" by O. F. Potemkin. Respondents were also offered a free-form self-report on their attitude to cyberbullying in order to identify perceptions, experiences and attitudes towards this phenomenon.

Results. The study of socio-psychological factors affecting the role position in bowling revealed that there are significant differences between individual personal characteristics and role position among respondents in the forms of cyberbullying in the Internet space.

Discussion. The study highlights the importance of working on the socio-psychological attitudes of a person in a cyberbullying situation. Understanding the attitudes of aggressors, observers and victims towards cyberbullying is important for the study of a comprehensive approach to the study and correction of socio-psychological attitudes that affect the role position in cyberbullying.

Conclusion. The study made it possible to identify and statistically confirm differences in socio-psychological attitudes among respondents with different swarm positions in cyberbullying.  Empirically, it has been revealed that the initiators of cyberbullying are focused on selfishness and power, normalize anonymity and impunity, dominate chat rooms and use trolling. Observers tend to be susceptible to social influence, entertainment, and passivity, which can either enhance or deter aggression. Victims are freedom-oriented, accept the situation and isolate themselves on social media, which can have long-term negative consequences.

Highlights

Existing studies of the digital behavior of a person prone to a situation of cyberbullying and deviant forms of interaction on the web do not sufficiently reveal how personal attitudes can influence the role position of a person in cyberbullying.

There are significant differences among respondents in the forms of cyberbullying and their socio-psychological and personal attitudes in the Internet space.
