SPECIFICITY OF MOTIVATION FOR FAMILY LIFE AMONG INTERNET-ACTIVE YOUTH
Abstracts

Introduction. The article discusses the features of motivation for family life among Internet-active youth. The author proposes an analysis of the results of an empirical study of the dominant motives for marriage and the image of the family among Internet users. A typology of groups of Internet-active respondents with different motives for marriage is given.

Materials and methods. The main research methods are the analysis of the literature on the research issues; author's research questionnaire to identify the level of activity in the Internet space; methods: "Role expectations and claims in marriage" by A.N. Volkova (in adaptation for the Internet space); content analysis of self-reports on the topic “My future family”.

Results. The features of the motives for marriage and the specifics of the family image of Internet-active respondents are revealed. It is noted that role expectations and claims in marriage of Internet-active respondents are associated with emotional and therapeutic function, social activity, and personal identification with a spouse. The study analyzed that the respondents of the sample have the following family image criteria: acceptance and support, trust, comfort, respect, well-being, awareness and development, having children, a happy and friendly family.

Discussion. The results of the study showed that among all Internet-active respondents in the image of a family, the categories of awareness and development, comfort are less pronounced. The most relevant category in the image of a family is the presence of love. It is assumed that the Internet space as a new institution of socialization is able to change, supplement or create new motives for any communicative activity of a person, including in interpersonal relationships.

Conclusion. The study made it possible to identify a typology of groups of active Internet users depending on their motives for marriage and the dominant image of the family. The resulting typology can form the basis of a program of psychological support for Internet-active youth. Firstly, such a program will allow focusing on the main difficulties of respondents in interpersonal relationships. Secondly, individual methods and an approach, depending on the characteristics of a group of Internet users, can show greater efficiency and dynamics than generalized approaches without taking into account the specifics.
