WAYS OF FORMING AN ENGINEERING CULTURE IN A PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE COURSE “COMPUTER MODELING”
Abstracts

Introduction. The article discusses the issues of the formation of engineering culture at the pedagogical University in the direction of 44.03.05 “Pedagogical education” and the profiles: “Computer Science-English”, “Mathematics-Computer Science”, “Physics-Computer Science”, “Computer Science-Mathematics” when studying the course “Computer modeling” and the course topics related to computer graphics 3D-modeling and computer mathematical modeling. The topic of 3D modeling is closely related to CAD systems and 3D printing, which are widely used in engineering practice. The importance of training teachers to work with students motivated for engineering creativity, for example, in engineering classes, is being updated. When preparing teachers of the above-mentioned specialties, the goal of training engineers is not set, the task is to prepare teachers who motivate students to choose to continue their engineering education. The basic principles of the Russian engineering school are formulated: obtaining fundamental knowledge in the field of exact and natural sciences, close connection between education and engineering application of knowledge, possession of engineering tools that should be followed when studying computer modeling.

Materials and methods. Attention is focused on the training of teaching staff for engineering classes and measures to equip pedagogical universities with special laboratories, technology parks and quantoriums for acquaintance with modern equipment and engineering creativity. Measures are formulated for the effective operation of engineering classes: the availability of modern equipment and software with good methodological support, qualified teachers, interaction with Russian engineering companies, and organization of methodological seminars on the introduction of project work into the educational process. From our point of view, it is necessary to train teams of teachers to work in engineering classes: teachers of mathematics, computer science, physics and technology. Taking into account the widespread use of information technologies in production, the specialty “Technology Informatics”, which is currently missing, becomes relevant.

Results. The author's experience in the development of engineering culture while teaching the course “Computer Modeling” at the university in the above specialties and working as a computer science teacher at school is presented. The importance of computer modeling is being updated.

Discussion. The importance of modeling and design processes for engineering creativity is emphasized. The use of an interdisciplinary approach in the learning process, working with equipment in techno parks and laboratories will have a positive impact on the formation of engineering culture.

Conclusion. The solution to the acute problem of the shortage of engineering personnel in the Russian economy can be achieved with the consistent inclusion in creative engineering activities of not only future subject teachers, but also schoolchildren. Familiarization with the elements of product design is the creation of the foundation of engineering design activities for schoolchildren.

Highlights

The features of the formation of engineering culture within the framework of the course "Computer modeling" in the direction 44.03.05 “Pedagogical education” for future teachers of computer science are revealed;

The following academic disciplines have been identified that influence the formation of engineering culture: “Mathematics”, “Physics”, “Programming”, “Operations Research and optimization methods”, “Computational Mathematics”, “Microprocessor Technology”, “Methods and means of processing experimental data”, “Robotics”, “Computer Modeling”;

In our opinion, it is necessary to introduce a section on the development of engineering in Russia into the course of national history;

The key features of the application of computer modeling in engineering practice are identified, such as the use of rapid development tools for computer models, graphical 3D modeling, problem formalization, identification of similarity, diagnostics, application of analogy, generalization of results.
