Highlights

- the results of sociological studies of adolescents conducted in the late XX – early XIX centuries are considered. Many researchers consider it important to study the characteristics of modern adolescents, because on the one hand, changes in society are reflected in changes in the worldview of the younger generation; on the other hand, the accumulated data is not enough to make a full portrait of a modern teenager. Most of the issues are the life goals and value orientations of adolescents, the representation of adolescents about their rights and their availability, attitude to education and training, leisure activities and especially media consumption;

-  it is revealed that adolescents retain the traditional scale of values, which determines their goals for the future. Teenagers value and strive for family happiness, well-being in the profession, material prosperity, communication with friends. At the same time, they are quite pragmatic and individualistic, because they are focused primarily on personal success, pleas- ure, recreation and entertainment, but they have no idea how this can be achieved. In addition, it is worth noting the lack of Hobbies and interests,  the priority  focus  on  communication on the Internet, which entails the inability to interact outside the virtual space.
