PSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE DIGITAL BEHAVIOR OF THE INDIVIDUAL
Abstracts

Introduction. The article deals with theoretical contradictions in approaches to the study of digital behavior of a person. An empirical study of the psycho-age characteristics of a person with different levels of activity of digital behavior is presented and analyzed, taking into account cognitive (cognitive styles), mental (anxiety, aggressiveness, frustration, rigidity) and age characteristics.

Materials and methods. The empirical study was carried out using the author's research questionnaire “Digital Immersion”; the author's research questionnaire “Self-Attitude to Digital Competence”; methods of G. Eysenck “Self-assessment of the mental states of a person”; methods “Comparison of similar drawings” by J. Kagan; method of verbal-color interference by J. Stroop.

Results. In the course of the study, significant differences

were obtained in affective and cognitive indicators among age groups with different levels of digital activity. It was revealed that among respondents with low digital activity there are no respondents of youth age, which is explained by the digital era in which they grew and developed. The study showed that respondents with a low level of digital activity tend to perceive themselves as an active and competent digital user.

Discussion. The results of the study showed that respondents of adolescence, youth and adults with a low level of digital activity are characterized by rigid cognitive control and a positive self-attitude towards their own digital competence. The problem of digital socialization and digital development of a person remains ambiguous and open. The conducted research stimulates further research into the cognitive specifics of digital activity, namely, frames, intellectual schemes of a person with different levels of digital behavior.

Conclusion. The study made it possible to identify and statistically confirm cognitive (cognitive styles), mental (anxiety, aggressiveness, frustration, rigidity) and age-related personality traits with different levels of digital activity. Respondents of adolescence, youth and adult age with a high level of digital activity are characterized by a reflective cognitive style. Adult subjects with a low level of digital activity demonstrate a high degree of aggressiveness when interacting with the digital environment.

Keywords

Digital environment; Digital activity; Cognitive style; Digital competence; Digital behavior

Highlights

Existing studies of digital behavior do not sufficiently reveal the cognitive specifics of the digital activity of the individual;

There are significant differences in cognitive, affective and age-related personality traits with different levels of digital activity.
