FOREIGN PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY: STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
Abstracts

Introduction. The relevance of the research topic is due to the increasing importance of foreign professional competence in a multicultural environment. The purpose of our research is to clarify the structure and content of the cognitive and emotional components of foreign language professional competence of graduate students in technical areas of training.

 

The study revealed a set of scientific approaches that formed the basis for the definition of the concept of cognitive and emotional aspects of cognitive activity. The background of the definition of the term foreign language competence are identified, as well as the background of the functioning of emotional and cognitive components: communicative, linguistic, social, and cultural.

Materials and methods. The formation of foreign professional competence of graduate students of a technical university implies taking into account the following scientific approaches, such as: systemic, personality-oriented, subject-activity, socio-cultural, communicative-ethnographic, multicultural, competence-based, and problem-technological [1, pp.154–156].

Results. The results of the study showed that the use of methods and techniques developed by us contributes to the development of attention, imagination, emotional and figurative memory, speed and adequate reaction aimed at removing psychological barriers in communication with a foreign native speaker.

Discussion. We developed the theoretical reasons for the structure and foreign teaching methods of professional competence as well as emotional and cognitive aspects used in practical work with graduate students of the 2nd year of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University.

Conclusion. The problem of foreign language teaching in the context of a multicultural exchange is for the integration of specialists within the professional community of particular importance.

Highlights
