INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION AS FACTOR OF FORMATION OF NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND READINESS TO ASSIMILATE
Abstracts

Introduction. This article deals with the problems of intercultural education within the context of the main tasks of pedagogical science in a multicultural society, and attempts to define the term and consider the main competing directions. Special attention is paid to the formation of national consciousness and students’ readiness for assimilation in secondary school. The purpose of the article is to consider the aspects of intercultural education as a basis for the formation of national consciousness and readiness for assimilation, to justify theoretically and show its effectiveness in the process of experimental work.

Materials and methods. The main methods of research are the analysis of scientific literature on the problem in the works of national and foreign scientists, Laws and Regulations Acts of the Russian Federation in the field of education; method of pedagogical project, diagnostic methods, including observation, questioning, testing, data processing methods.

Results. The results of the pedagogical experiment revealed that the indicators of formation of national consciousness and readiness for assimilation at the post-experimental stage increased significantly. Analysis of the results of the pedagogical experiment confirmed that the formation of national consciousness and readiness for assimilation is possible.

Discussion. It is emphasized that the formation of national consciousness and readiness for assimilation will be effective if the process of intercultural education in extracurricular activities in high school on the basis of the functioning of the intercultural club "Faces of Russia".

Conclusion. Pedagogical experiment showed that 8 grade students of school №1 of Kopeisk, where the forming experiment was conducted, had an increase in the level of national consciousness on the one hand and readiness for assimilation on the other hand.
