Introduction. The article justifies the relevance of the development of analytical skills of students of the Preparatory Department of the University; the analysis of psychological and pedagogical research on the development of analytical skills of different categories of stu- dents. The article aims is to substantiate and reveal the possibilities of organization of independent work of students of the preparatory Department of the University in the Social Science.
Materials and methods. The main research methods involve analysis of scientific literature on the problem of development of analytical skills of students ; diagnostic techniques, including observation, description, questioning of students of the preparatory Department and teachers as well as analysis of written and oral responses of students of the Preparatory Department, analysis of the exam results.
Results. The study introduced a concept of "analytical skills", identified pedagogical conditions for the development of analytical skills of Preparatory Department students, substantiated the value and possibilities of organization of independent work of students of the
Preparatory Department.
Discussion. The study shoes that the project is efficient when there are some pedagogical conditions of analytical skills development of the Preparatory Department students.
Conclusion. The author concluded that the skills development of the Preparatory Department students. is possible by means of systematic independent work in the process of the studying Social Science.
