Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the psychological basis of social responsibility as an actual demanded by modern society subjective characteristics of the civilian population, first of all, students. The hypothesis of the study was the assumption about the conditionality of social responsibility by psychological security of the person. The aim of the work was to identify the fact and features of the impact of psychological security on the social responsibility of University students.
Materials and methods. On the empirical material in the study revealed a direct statistically significant relationship of social responsibility and psychological safety of the individual. Features of distribution of social responsibility at students with low level of psychological safety of the personality and its components – psychological security and potential of personal development are studied.
Results. The differences in the forms of students ' behavioral realization of their social responsibility are revealed. The author's model of development of social responsibility on the basis of improving the psychological security of students ' personality, including the blocks of diagnosis (ascertaining and control) and basic development (information and correctional-developing).
Discussion. The formative experiment, implemented with the involvement of experimental and control groups, confirmed the effectiveness of the program developed on the basis of the model of development of social responsibility on the basis of improving the psychological security of students personality. Thus, the influence of psychological security of students ' personality on their social activity was proved.
